π What to Do When a Front Tyre Bursts?
-
Stay Calm & Hold the Steering Firmly
Keep both hands firmly on the steering wheel. The car may pull suddenly toward the side of the burst tyre. -
Do NOT Brake Suddenly
Avoid hard braking. Sudden braking can make the car unstable and difficult to control. -
Do NOT Turn the Steering Suddenly
Keep the vehicle moving in a straight line as much as possible. Make only gentle steering corrections. -
Slow Down Gradually
Take your foot off the accelerator and allow the vehicle to slow down naturally. If necessary, apply the brakes gently and progressively. -
Turn on Hazard Lights
Switch on your hazard warning lights to alert other drivers. -
Move to a Safe Location
Once your speed is significantly reduced and you have control of the vehicle, carefully move toward the shoulder or another safe area away from traffic. -
Stop Completely & Secure the Car
Engage the parking brake, put the car in Park (automatic) or first gear (manual), and switch off the engine. -
Do Not Immediately Attempt to Change the Tyre
If you are stopped on a busy highway or an unsafe location, stay inside the vehicle if it is safer and contact roadside assistance. -
Use Warning Equipment
If it is safe to exit, place a warning triangle or other approved warning device at an appropriate distance behind the vehicle.
